Positive Feedback from the Tibetan community in exile
We'd like to leave you with the words of Tibetan community
leaders whom we have worked with and our past Tibetan students, which reflect
the positive impacts of our Environmental Health Education Programs. We offer
our sincere thanks to them, the Tibetan Government & schools and to His Holiness
the Dalai Lama, from whom we have learned far more than we could ever teach.
Comments from heads of participating CTA Departments and
Tibetan organizations
"The program focused on solutions to environmental
problems, emphasizing practical applications for our daily life. Our students
became much more aware of the endangered environments of our earth and benefited
so much from their teachings."
The late Reverend Lobsang Gyatso,
Former Director, Institute of Buddhist Dialectics
"The environmental health information they will
disseminate in Gaden and Drepung Monasteries this year will be extremely beneficial.
One of the best medicines is preventative health education."
Mr. Tsering Dorje,
Secretary {former}, Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration
"Their clear explanation on the production-stage processes
of both plastic products and the battery cells was eye opening, and encouraging
to take up remedial steps, aimed both at the starting and ending stages. The
presentation was balanced between the harms caused and the solutions."
Mr. Ngodup Dorje,
Settlement Representative, CTA, Mundgod, South
India
"It is my recommendation that their program should
continue and be offered in other Tibetan schools in the future. It is essential
for the future of Tibet and our global environment, that Tibetans gain a comprehensive
understanding of vital environmental issues that confront us today and explore
appropriate solutions so that they can act responsibly and compassionately to
protect our natural environment.... I shall deeply appreciate any help from
any source rendered to facilitate their unique program."
Lhakpa Tsering,
Administrator{former} TCV, Headmaster, SOS Tibetan Children's Village
SUJA
"Their collective experience teaching in a wide variety of
Tibetan schools and understanding of the challenges faced in Tibetan education
and communities in exile, makes their input most beneficial. Promotion of cultural
exchange between US and Tibetan students is another valuable contribution of
Solutions in Action. Such educational programs encourage our students to develop
a global perspective on issues of environment, sustainable development and education
and are important to the future of Tibet as a nation. We welcome such programs
in the future."
Mr. Ngodup Tsering,
Secretary of Education [former], Department of Education, CTA of His Holiness
the Dalai Lama
Comments from students of SIA environmental health programs
"Your teaching is a great seed for the future. You are both
teaching 25 students who will become teachers about the important subject of
environment and how to solve environmental problems. This education will continue
to grow, for our students will also teach others and so on through generations."
Lobsang Tenje,
Institute of Buddhist Dialectics Former Teacher-in-Training
"The workshop was very helpful and interesting. I am sure it
will bring great change in this community (Mundgod, Doegyuling Settlement),
especially the topic of plastic bags and batteries and the harm caused by them
and how to avoid them for better health and environment."
Participant,

You have taught us about the environment with compassion and
kindness... through your kindness and benevolence you have opened my eyes to
see more. I will never forget your beneficial teachings which have been the
source of inspiration and encouragement."

also about conservation of resources. (My) actions will be to help the environment
and to instruct other people how the environment is important and how to contribute...."
